What is relative age? -This is a package for middle school earth science teachers wanting to teach the concept of relative age. It includes a lesson plan using the 5 step lesson plan from Whole Brain Teaching, a Power Pix with question, answer, picture, and gesture, as well as links to a Google Doc for collaborative writing, pdf for teaching sentence writing, and content information. All activities are linked to the Next Generation Science Standards.
Understanding Rock Layers - This lesson focuses on the Next Generation Science Standard MS-ESS1-4. Students will learn how to gather evidence from rock layers to learn about the history of the Earth. The lesson is set up using whole brain teaching's 5 step lesson plan, and includes a SMART document for SMART Response clickers (but can easily be adapted for no-tech), as well as a document that can be used with Google Drive for collaborative writing.
